A Hunger in Your Heart

Holy Cow! No, not literally like the golden calf in the 10 Commandments movie, but Holy Cow!, the company that administered the online survey you were invited to complete. On Tuesday, September 27th, 25 or so leaders of your congregation met for three hours to listen to the results of the survey, and to discover together who we are at LCC and what we are about. I want to use this space to highlight some of the discoveries.

The top three priorities that members indicated they would like additional energy placed as indicated by the survey results are:

  • Develop the spiritual generosity of the people to financially support the ministry of the church
  • Create more opportunities for people to form meaningful relationships
  • Enlarge or improve the physical facilities of the church to expand or enhance our ministries

Holy Cow! I believe these priorities reflect that God is growing a hunger in you for deeper faith and new opportunities to live out God’s love in real ways at church and beyond. This is truly exciting stuff! As God continues to grow a hunger in your heart and in the life of LCC, keep an open mind and listening ear as we discover together where God is taking us.

No one would have ever guessed that an empty tomb would still be shaping the lives of billions thousands of years later. No one would have ever guessed that a ragtag group of fishermen, tax collectors and prostitutes would set the stage for God’s love to be carried to the ends of the earth. No one would have ever guessed that through persecution, corruption and manipulation the Gospel would still move forward.

That’s because it is not about guessing. It’s about listening to our hearts and each other for the Holy Spirit. It’s about taking steps forward into uncharted territory no matter the risk. It’s about God directing our lives and making all things new, even us. As we continue on together in faith, God will bless us so that we may be a blessing to others.
